Renewable Energies for Future
Hans-Werner Gress – Renewable Energies Consultant
Short profile:
Since 30 years I’ve been working in the field of energy transition and climate protection.
Main focus on use of biomass and waste to biogas, with many projects put into practice and operation,
- born in 1957
- graduated in physics (Dipl.-Phys.)
- expert for renewable energies
- extensive knowledge on biogas
- experiences abroad:
Ecuador, Vietnam, Mexico, Sierra Leone
Since 2012 cooperating with IINAS GmbH Darmstadt (International Institute for Sustainability Analysis and Strategy).

As member of the executive board of ABO Wind AG I was responsible for the biogas and cogeneration divison until March 2019. ABO Wind is one of the most experienced project developers for renewable energies in Germany and has international branches in various countries.
Before that I worked for Hessen-Energie, the governmental energy agency in Hesse, Germany (1992-2000), and for an engineering office for energy planning (1990 – 1992). At Wissenschaftsladen Kaiserslautern I cofounded and operated a private monitoring station for environmental radioactivity as a consequence of the Tchernobyl atomic catastrophe in 1986. I studied physics, graduated in 1983 and worked as a scientist at the university until 1985.

USING THE FULL SCOPE OF ACTION
An effective climate protection requires new energy systems. This raises a lot of questions. Which legal and administrative barriers have to be overcome? What are the real costs and benefits for erection and operation? How reliable is the technology? Which interfaces to other systems have to be considered? Are there public acceptance problems? How can ecological advantages be optimized and possible disadvantages be minimized?
Many of the difficulties which one has to face while implementing renewable energy systems will only become apparent with a closer look. To avoid fatal failures they should be considered as soon as possible, preferably in early stages. Therefore a choice for different options requires great care and foresight together with deep knowledge and experience.
That is where my particular strengths can support you on the way to new solutions.
